My Story
Victoria Keith served three tours in Iraq as a Sergeant in the Marine Corps. Her duties included convoy security from Kuwait to Iraq during the first entry, serving as a squad leader, and being recruited as a professional musician and tuba player in the Marine Corps Band. This role required perfect performance and rhythm, making it one of the most disciplined and multifaceted tasks in the world. Victoria's service dog's name was Max, and together, they faced the challenges of military life and the transition back to civilian life. Matthew Keith, Victoria's husband, was also a 3-tour veteran in Iraq. He served as a Staff Sergeant and was known as a great man. Unfortunately, upon returning home, he struggled with PTSD and became agoraphobic. In 2020, Matthew passed away from complications related to his agoraphobia and PTSD, as he was unable to find the help he desperately needed. Victoria found herself slowly going down a similar path to her husband but was determined to make a difference. This led to the creation of Bane's P.A.W.S., a PTSD service dog breeding and training program dedicated to assisting wounded service members. Named in honor of Bane, one of her beloved Cane Corso dogs, the program focuses on providing veterans with the support they need to reclaim their lives. Our mission at Bane's P.A.W.S. is to breed and train Cane Corso dogs as PTSD service dogs for veterans. We are committed to supporting veterans by providing them with specially trained dogs that can help them navigate the challenges of PTSD and regain their independence. Our program also aims to raise awareness about PTSD and the vital role service dogs can play in the recovery process. Through the generosity of our supporters, we can cover expenses such as food, training, veterinary bills, travel for veterans, and maintaining our training facilities. Your contributions make a significant impact on the lives of veterans and their families, helping them to find hope and healing through the companionship of a service dog.
